Pursuant to By-law Number 2024-073, effective January 1, 2025, the following application fees will apply.
- Pet Shop Licence Renewal - $110.
- New Pet Shop Licence - $110.
- Change of Ownership of Pet Shop - $110.
Rules and regulations
You must follow all the rules and regulations set out in the Pet Shop By-law. Here are a few of the rules and regulations:
- you cannot keep prohibited animals in a pet shop
- the pet shop must be kept in a clean and sanitary manner
- animals must be kept in a sanitary environment with appropriate bedding, lighting and temperatures
- all tanks, cages and containers must provide maximum comfort for the specific animal species including appropriate size and height
- ensure there are safeguards to prevent undue direct physical contact with animals and the general public
- all staff handling animals must receive adequate instruction and be supervised in the handling and care of animals
- cages, tanks and containers cannot be overcrowded
