Goals
The overall goal of the Source Protection Plan is to:
- safeguard human health
- ensure adequate, safe and clean water is available both now and in the future
- protect water sources from significant drinking water threats
The Plan identifies 21 threats to drinking water and develops policies to reduce the risks associated with these threats. This includes:
- risk management plans
- land use planning
- prescribed instruments
- education and outreach
Scope
The plan takes into account the economic, agricultural, public and municipal interests of stakeholders in the following regions:
- Credit Valley
- Toronto and Region
- Central Lake Ontario
