You need a mobile food and refreshment licence in order to operate a refreshment vehicle or stand within the Town of Orangeville. This includes, but is not limited to, a chip truck, food cart, ice cream bicycle, ice cream truck, mobile lunch truck and any mobile food and refreshment stand.

Mobile Food Vendor Licence must be renewed annually.

Application Details

Please include the following information and documentation with your application:

  • name, address and phone number
  • type of business
  • list of food items you will sell
  • location
  • appropriate licence fee
  • $2,000,000 certificate of Insurance naming the Town of Orangeville as an additional insured
  • Inspections and sign-off by Orangeville Fire and the Public Health Unit
  • Letter of permission to operate on private property, as applicable

Rules and regulations

Review the Mobile Food Vendor's By-law for full details on how to operate a refreshment vehicle. For example, you must:

  • only operate a refreshment vehicle in CBD, C1, C2, C3 and M1 zones as outlined in the Zoning By-law
  • have liability insurance for $2 million and name the Town of Orangeville as an additional insured
  • have your mobile vendor licence available at all times for inspection
  • keep the refreshment vehicle clean and sanitary and meet all public health requirements
  • ensure all food is wrapped and sold in single-serve packages or disposable containers and napkins are provided for customers
  • provide a garbage receptacle that can hold all waste generated by the refreshment vehicle or stand, and remove the garbage receptacle before leaving
