We work to keep our community safe, clean and enjoyable for everyone. This is done by creating and enforcing local rules—called bylaws—to protect people, property, and public spaces. Our bylaw officers are dedicated to keeping Orangeville a great place to live and visit. They work hard responding to concerns about noise, property issues, and other local bylaws.
How does enforcement work in Orangeville?
Bylaw enforcement in Orangeville is community-led. This means we respond when residents report concerns.
Our team looks into each complaint to decide if a bylaw was broken. We aim to fix issues through education and voluntary compliance first, but fines or legal action may follow if needed.
Everyone plays a part in keeping our community safe and respectful.
Common bylaws
There are some bylaws we receive more questions about than others. We have put together a page with those bylaws. Click the button below for more.
How to submit a complaint
Most bylaw complaints are submitted through our online portal, SeeClickFix. It is an easy, step-by-step process. You can upload any additional details, such as photos or other evidence with your submission.
To file a noise complaint, you need additional information. Learn about the noise bylaw and how to file a noise complaint below.
Making a bylaw complaint
- Anonymous complaints are only investigated if it is an immediate life or death safety issue.
- Report complaints as soon as possible after the issue occurs.
- Gather as many details as possible. Photos, videos, and noise logs help a lot.
- Bylaw officers will follow up if more information is needed.
