Sustainable Orangeville has announced the winners of the 2021 Bloomin‘ Garden Showcase. This year marks the sixth year for the fun competition, as last year the event was not held due to COVID-19. Congratulations to the winners in the following categories:
Best Bloomin’ Condo/Apartment – Ruth Agar
Best Bloomin’ Container Gardens – Margo Tasker
Best Edible Garden – Stephen Newbury & Bridget Palangeo
Best Bloomin’ Government Building – Orangeville District Secondary School
Best Bloomin’ Home Floral Display – Nancy Sicsic & Vince Taliana, Gerelyn Tabsing, Gale and Peter Slofstra
Best Bloomin’ Home Landscape – Sylvia Bradley, Margo Young, Jackilyn Bondad, & Julie Leblanc.
Sustainable Orangeville and the Orangeville Communities in Bloom judges express appreciation to all the entrants in the Best Bloomin’ Garden Showcase. A ceremony was held in Alexandra Park on August 5 for winners to receive their prizes of a Best Bloomin’ Garden lawn sign (for bragging rights) and a coupon for free Scott’s Miracle-Gro.
The event ran from June 14 to July 7, with online entries and viewing site. Garden submissions maybe be viewed at https://www.orangeville.ca/CiB-garden-showcase/.
The Bloomin’ Garden Showcase is an important part of the Communities in Bloom program, which seeks to foster civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community involvement.
Orangeville Councillor Grant Peters and Matthew Smith of Sustainable Orangeville present certificates and prizes to the winners in the 2021 Best Bloomin’ Gardens Showcase in a ceremony at Alexandra Park. The contest is part of the Communities in Bloom program.
