100 per cent of active Town staff complied with COVID-19 vaccination policy, four volunteer firefighters fail to comply
Today, the Town of Orangeville provided an update on its COVID-19 vaccination policy. One hundred percent of currently active staff are in compliance with the policy; the Town has terminated four volunteer firefighters for non-compliance.
In accordance with the policy, which was implemented in October 2021, Town employees were given until December 31, 2021 to be compliant with the policy. The policy allows for exemptions in compliance with the Ontario Human Rights Code.
Fire Chief Ronald Morden says fire services will not be impacted, adding that 10 new volunteer firefighters came on board in December.
Additionally, no vendors or contractors have been impacted by the Town’s vaccination policy and all are in compliance to date. In fact, the Town received feedback from vendors that they have similar vaccination policies in place.
The health and safety of residents, visitors and staff remains the Town’s top priority to provide a safe workplace and support the ongoing and safe delivery of municipal services to the public.
The Town has consistently acted in accordance with the guidance and direction of the province and public health which has advised that the best protection against COVID-19 is vaccination, masking, and social distancing.
