Ticketing for one-sided parking begins June 1 in the Town of Orangeville

After several months of an education-based campaign, the Town of Orangeville will begin issuing tickets to vehicles in violation of one-sided parking regulations on June 1, 2023. 

The Traffic By-law was updated to limit most Orangeville streets to one-sided parking to address numerous concerns surrounding driver and resident safety. In the past, there were scenarios in which emergency vehicles were delayed due to an inability to proceed when vehicles were parked on both sides of the street. There were also challenges for plowing and proper winter safety maintenance.  

“Council wanted to take an education-based approach to allow residents to adapt to these changes before ticketing began,” explained Mayor Lisa Post. “Over the past several months, our Bylaw officers have helped make drivers aware of the new rules since the first phase of the project was unveiled in January. Our staff have done a fantastic job of helping as the Town adjusts to this shift.” 

The remaining signage for parking has been installed and residents are asked to observe all posted signs on Town streets.
