Did you know Coyotes are a normal part of our area’s wildlife? Especially during the warmer months, they can be seen in our forested areas or at our local parks.

Coyotes are identifiable by:

  • 🐺 Pointy, erect ears
  • 🐺 Black-tipped tails
  • 🐺 Similar appearance to a slender German Shepherd

Please note: Heightened coyote activity has been reported at Dragonfly Park.

If you are attending the trails there, please exercise caution in the area and keep your pets on a leash for their safety.

Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • Stay calm
  • Do not run
  • Use a noise-maker
  • Stand tall, wave your hands, and make lots of noise

If the coyote appears to pose an immediate threat contact Dufferin OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
