Back to SearchDuring the pandemic, from response to recovery, the Town of Orangeville has taken the direction of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health. Community members are advised of an order issued today by Medical Officer of Health Dr. Nicola Mercer.
Under Section 22 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act, Dr. Mercer has issued an order to ensure our area is able to move safely to phase two of the Ontario Framework for Re-opening, effective Friday, June 12.
The order requires owners or operators of a commercial establishment in Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph to require persons entering or remaining in the premises to wear a face covering and requires establishments to have alcohol-based hand sanitizer at all entrances and exits.
The face covering must be worn inside the establishment at all times, unless it is reasonably required to temporarily remove it for services provided by the establishment. Exemptions are provided for those under the age of two years and medical reasons. A face covering is defined as a medical mask or a non-medical mask or other face coverings such as a bandana, a scarf or cloth that covers the mouth, nose and chin ensuring a barrier that limits the transmission of infectious respiratory droplets.
A commercial establishment is defined as a commercial premise used for the purpose of offering goods or services to members of the public and includes a mall or other structure containing a number of commercial premises.
Failure to comply with this order is an offence and carries a maximum fine of $5,000 for every day or part of each day on which the offence occurs.
