The Town of Orangeville is about to embark on a major park project. One of the Town’s busiest parks, with its original splashpad and the playground being hailed as the first fully accessible playground in Canada over two decades ago, is about to be redesigned and rebuilt.



Openspace Solutions Inc. has been awarded the contract to replace the Everykids Playstructures and Splashpad at Harvey Curry Park (90 Dawson Road). The park and its popular features are due for replacement and the new features will meet the latest safety and accessibility standards.



Construction is scheduled to start in September and the park will be closed effective September 3. The projected opening of the new Everykids play structure and splash pad is set for July 1, 2020.



Residents of all ages are invited to provide input into the concepts for Harvey Curry Park. Openspace Solutions Inc. is looking for ideas that incorporate best practices for the community’s needs to design an accessible play space that encourages interaction and enjoyment.



Developed in 1985, the park is named after former reeve and Orangeville hardware merchant Harvey C. Curry. He served as Reeve of Orangeville Council and Warden of Dufferin County in 1947.  Mr. Curry was also a noted musician, operated a service station and lunch counter at the Wheeler Inn on First Street, and operated Curry’s Hardware at 149-151 Broadway.
