Back to SearchThe Orangeville Fire dispatch service is switching from the Orangeville Police Service to the Tillsonburg Fire & Rescue Service’s communications centre. The transfer of dispatch and communication services is effective July 27, 2020 at 8 a.m.
Orangeville Police Service is the current dispatch provider, however with the Town’s transition to Ontario Provincial Policing this October a new provider was needed for the fire dispatch service. The Town issued a Request for Proposals, with the Town of Tillsonburg (Fire and Rescue Services) being the successful proponent. The Town will realize operational savings of about $60,000 per year as a result of the transition.
“Tillsonburg provides fire dispatch for the Towns of Ingersoll, Kincardine, Tiverton, Lucknow, Elmwood, Walkerton, Hanover, Fort Erie, Chippewa's of the Thames and Elgin County (excluding the City of St Thomas) for a total of 25 fire stations,” said Orangeville Mayor Sandy Brown. “This is a professional service headed by former Shelburne Fire Chief and new Tillsonburg Fire Chief Brad Lemaich. We are in very good hands.”
Several local fire services -- Shelburne, Grand Valley and Mulmur-Melancthon -- have also contracted dispatch services to Tillsonburg Fire & Rescue Services of the Town of Tillsonburg.
