Get your red and white ready because Canada Day is just around the corner. Join us Monday, July 1, at Alder Street Recreation Centre for a fun-filled day of festivities to celebrate Canada. The event kicks off at 11:45 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m., with free activities and entertainment for all ages. A fireworks show over Island Lake will wrap up the festivities at 10 p.m.
"The Town is excited to bring everyone together to enjoy free activities all day," said Mayor Lisa Post. "Canada Day is about celebrating our past, present and future, both as a country and as a community. When we celebrate together, we strengthen our connection as a community. I look forward to sharing in the excitement with you on July 1."
Schedule of events:
Opening ceremony
11:45 a.m.
Greetings from Mayor Post, Council, MP Kyle Seeback, and MPP Sylvia Jones. The ceremony will be followed by O' Canada and cake cutting.
Main stage entertainment – red rink
12:30, 2:00, and 3:30 p.m.
Kids and families are invited to join TEAM T&J's Kids Jumpin’ Jamboree for three high-energy, interactive concerts. Each show will be 30-minutes.
Family Fun Zone – green rink
11:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Family Fun Zone will include a 26-foot rock wall, a 28-foot thunder run slide, a 65-foot mega obstacle course, and bouncy castles for all to enjoy.
Swimming
12:30, 2:00, and 3:30 p.m.
Make a splash with free swim sessions at the Alder Street Recreation Centre pools. Don’t miss special appearances by Buddy the Lifeguard and Sharky, who will be giving out water safety prizes from the Lifesaving Society!
Additional family-friendly activities
11:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event will feature face painting and airbrush tattoos, a professional photo booth, Neighbourhood Block Box crafts, and activities hosted by the Orangeville Public Library, including the kickoff of the TD Summer Reading Club. Food services will be provided by B Social Café.
Fireworks
10 p.m.
Take in the fireworks show over Island Lake! Enjoy free entry to the park after 9 p.m.
