The Town of Orangeville is once again inviting local talent to bring creativity and colour to its streets. Public art plays an important role in recognizing local artists, celebrating the town’s culture and history, and promoting Orangeville as an arts and culture hub for the region.

The 2025 Call for Artists offers local creators the chance to have their artwork featured on utility boxes throughout the community. Up to four new designs will be selected from the submissions this year, with winning artists receiving $750 for each selected design.

“These projects not only brighten our streets, but they celebrate the people, history, and spirit of Orangeville,” said Councillor Joe Andrews, chair of the Economic Development and Culture Committee. “Artwork is an inherent part of our culture, and our incredible public art collection makes it accessible to everyone—right where they live, work, and walk.”

Since the program launched in 2016, the Town has wrapped 36 utility boxes and 11 murals, transforming everyday infrastructure into eye-catching landmarks. Orangeville Hydro is partnering once again with the Town to expand the presence of artwork throughout the community. Three of the boxes to be wrapped are located by 37 Armstrong Street with the fourth located at Third Street and Fifth Avenue.

Artists are encouraged to carefully review the requirements and templates outlined in the Call for Artists. Submissions are open to artists aged 18 and over who live in Dufferin County. Designs should fit the character of Orangeville and may include themes of nature, local history and landmarks, or celebration of local arts and culture. Art will be selected with consideration to scale, form, content, and design relative to the site.

The deadline to submit a design is Thursday, May 15 at 12 p.m. Full details, requirements, and templates can be found at orangeville.ca/CallForArtists.
