Bring your national pride to Orangeville as the community celebrates Canada Day on Monday, July 1. Enjoy free activities and entertainment at the Alder Recreation Centre at 275 Alder Street from 11:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. and enjoy the fireworks show over Island Lake at 10 p.m.
During the afternoon, at the Alder Recreation Centre, residents and visitors can enjoy a range of activities, including opening ceremonies and birthday cake at 11:45 a.m., the Great Canadian Lumberjack Show, three free one-hour public swims (12, 1:45 and 3:30 p.m.), face painting, balloon twisting, professional photo booth, colouring, crafts and inflatables. Be sure to take part in the fun and check out the food vendors.
The Great Canadian Lumberjack Show is a new attraction for Orangeville’s Canada Day festivities. The show will run at 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. You will see lumberjacks compete in axe throwing, chainsaw carving, wood chopping, and cross-cut sawing all while keeping the crowd laughing.
Over at Island Lake, for the fireworks show, admission to the conservation area is by donation after 9 p.m. or the fireworks can be viewed from the west side of Highway 10 at various locations. The Campfire Poets will perform at the Amphitheatre at Island Lake from 6:30-9 p.m. Regular park admission applies until 9 p.m. (adults, $5.75; children (6-14), $2.65; seniors (60 and over), $4.43; maximum charge per vehicle of up to six people, $23.90; members are admitted free). Snack concessions will be available. Fireworks will be set off from the south dam and the conservation area closes after the fireworks conclude.

Canada Day weekend closures
Town Hall will be closed from Saturday, June 29 through Monday, July 1, reopening on Tuesday, July 2.
Orangeville Public Library will be closed from Saturday, June 29 through Monday, July 1, reopening on Tuesday, July 2.
Orangeville Public Transit will not be running on Sunday, June 30 or Monday, July 1.
Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre will be closed on Monday, July 1.
Alder Recreation Centre – Regular programs on Saturday and Sunday. Regular programs are cancelled on Monday, July 1 to accommodate the Canada Day celebrations.
