The Town of Orangeville has launched a COVID-19 Community Recognition Awards program. Nominations are open to recognize residents, businesses and organizations for their outstanding efforts in the community during the unprecedented and challenging COVID-19 pandemic.
Online nomination forms are available on the Town’s website and will be received on a continuous basis until the end of the pandemic. Criteria will be based on nominees displaying one or all of the following:
- Positive community contribution
- Volunteerism
- Acts of kindness
- Providing an essential service
- Leadership and support within the community
“I am proud of the way this community pulled together this year to offer support to those in need,” said Deputy Mayor Andy Macintosh. “People have had to stretch their imaginations to accept change, to be innovative to offer needed services and to be understanding of those who struggle with different aspects of living through a pandemic. It’s a challenging historical period and we have seen many examples of people coming together and lifting others up or lending a hand.”
All nominated applicants who meet the criteria requested and showed exemplary support and contribution to the community during the pandemic will be recognized. A donation to the Orangeville Food Bank will be made in their name.
