Fare Free Transit Pilot program to continue into 2027

The Town of Orangeville’s two-year fare-free transit pilot program will be extended until July 21, 2027. A staff recommendation to continue the program for the next two-and-a-half years was approved by Council on September 23.

Partial closure on Mill Street Sept. 26 to 28 for filming: Broadway and Businesses remain open

Cineflix Inc. will be returning to Orangeville to continue filming a Hallmark Christmas movie, Trading up Christmas. A Christmas market set will be created using downtown Orangeville and its historic buildings as a backdrop.

Filming will take place from September 26 to 28 and will be limited to a section on the north end of Mill Street, beside the Orangeville Public Library.

Shelter work coming to two Orangeville Transit stops September 20

A heads up for Orangeville Transit riders:

Work will be done tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 20) on two shelters.

  • Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre (stop 28) – shelter repairs
  • Headwaters Health Care Centre (stop 34) - shelter installation

There will be no disruptions to transit and regular stops will continue at these stops.

Fare Free Transit pilot update coming to Orangeville Council

The Town of Orangeville’s two-year Fare Free Transit pilot program will be coming to an end in the next few months, with staff bringing a project update to Council on September 23.

Fare Free Transit was introduced in January of 2023, after Council voted to move forward with the pilot in July 2022. By moving forward with a pilot, the Town could provide a proper assessment of utilizing this kind of transit structure and identify whether it would be successful.
