In the Town of Orangeville, we contract the Orangeville and District Branch of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) to enforce and administer the Animal Control By-law.

Apply for a dog licence

You can purchase a dog licence through the Orangeville and District Branch of the OSPCA. All dog owners must renew a dog licence annually by April 30th or immediately after becoming the owner of a dog over the age of twelve (12) weeks.

Animal Control Bylaw

The Town's Animal Control By-law promotes responsible pet ownership. This includes information about:

  • cats
  • dogs off leash
  • hens and hen coops
  • leash free parks
  • poop and scoop regulations
  • prohibited animals
  • wildlife feeding

The Hen Registration pilot program ended December 31, 2023. See the Animal Control By-law for information about hens.
