Embrace Winter
Now is the time to embrace winter! If you need some inspiration to get outside this time of year, take a look at these local options.
Outdoor Ice Skating
There are six outdoor rinks in the Town of Orangeville, ready for some good old fashioned winter fun. Find the location of the rinks and confirm ice conditions before heading out.
You can also get on the ice at Island Lake Conservation Area. Some rinks are available for reservation while others are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Check conditions and availability online.
Ice Fishing
Island Lake Conservation Area is the region’s destination for ice fishing. Equipment is available for rent by reservation and the park store offers minnows, tackle, snacks, and ice auguring services. Ice conditions are monitored and updated online. Be sure to save the date for the Island Lake Ice Fishing Derby, scheduled for February 12 to 21.
Snowshoeing
Island Lake trails are ideal for snowshoeing. Travel over flat terrain and gentle inclines as you trek through hardwood bush and meadow areas. You can also explore the lake in a new way, when the area is frozen over and safe. Rentals are available by reservation.
Cross country skiing
At nearby Monora Park, the Mono Nordic Ski Club offers daily passes and equipment rentals. Check the website for snow conditions and other updates.
These winter activities are just some of the outdoor opportunities available in and around Orangeville. Visit our Outdoors and Recreation page to find more.
