All-season adventure at Island Lake Conservation Area

Island Lake Conservation Area offers outdoor adventures for everyone in the family. The natural retreat features 330 hectares of lake, wetland, forest and meadow. A morning spent at Island Lake is a sure way to enjoy a dose of fresh air while engaging with nature and each other.

Accessible, well-maintained trails welcome hikers and cyclists of all ages and abilities. Take a moment to stop and admire the views from a trail-side bench or boardwalk bridge. Keep an eye out for local wildlife and birds who call this outdoor oasis home.

In the summer, spend some time on the water canoeing, kayaking or fishing. Snowshoeing and ice fishing are popular winter activities.

The collection includes over 40 tree sculptures that depict the Town's people, stories and history while preserving local trees. Follow a self-guided tour to find your favourite piece or solve the clues in one of scavenger hunts to lead the way. With both options, you'll have a chance to wander the historic streets of our community while spending time together. 

Burn some energy

Fit in one or two more activities before the end of your day by taking advantage of Orangeville's drop-in programs at our Town arenas and pools. Kids can also run, jump, slide and climb at Recess Play indoor playground.
