Live Performances
At the center of Orangeville’s performing arts scene is Theatre Orangeville. Performers and patrons from across Ontario return time and time again to experience the intimacy and excellence of the company’s live, professional performances. Diverse playbills highlight both classic favourites and new Canadian works. Theatre Orangeville also runs specialized programs that feature performers of all ages and abilities.
Many of Theatre Orangeville’s shows are presented in the Opera House, the community’s hub for performing arts. Centrally located in Town Hall, the historic space features plush red seats that invite you to sit back and enjoy the show. The theatre was renovated in 1993 to preserve and maintain its original purpose. Today, it continues to create an inviting venue for an impressive range of professional, musical, and special performances.
While the Opera House acts as the main stage for many of Orangeville’s performances, live entertainment regularly finds its way to other venues. Downtown streets are often amplified with local musicians and a regular roster of live music can be heard while enjoying a meal at a pub or restaurant. Every June, the popular Orangeville Blues & Jazz Festival brings a playlist of renowned and award-winning performers to downtown stages and to smaller venues in and around Orangeville. It’s the community's largest annual event and has been entertaining residents and visitors since 2003.
Our local talent is also featured during shows produced by community groups including Orangeville Music Theatre, Orangeville Community Band, Orangeville Show Chorus, and the Achill Choral Society.
