The County of Dufferin is undertaking a Transit Feasibility Study to examine possible transit solutions for County residents, workers, students, and visitors. The objective of the study is to determine whether a new transit service in Dufferin County (outside of the Town of Orangeville) is a feasible idea, and to figure out how it might be done.

Service Disruption – Accessibility Alert
As of Monday, November 1, the elevator at Town Hall (87 Broadway) is currently out of service until further notice. The Town is working on repairs to have the elevator back in service as soon as possible. However, the outage could last several days, pending delivery of a replacement part for the power control board.
Movie filming in Orangeville

An independent film company will be shooting scenes for an upcoming movie, “Impasse”, on October 29 at Bythia and Princess Streets and at two private residences. The movie is being produced under the direction of Barett Caplan and features actor Nicholas Campbell who starred in the TV show “Davinci’s Inquest” and currently stars in “The Coroner." The action thriller is expected to be released in the summer of 2022.
Water main repairs on Dawson Road

Town water staff are working on water main repairs on Dawson Road, between Broadway and Centennial Road.
A water main break was reported at 12 Dawson Road. Traffic is reduced to one lane, although a road closure to through traffic may be necessary. The watermain may need to be shut off but that won’t be determined until excavation has occurred and if it is necessary affected businesses and the fire service will be notified in advance.

Public Works advises that ditch cleaning will be conducted adjacent to Rotary and Idyllwilde Parks on Wednesday, October 13 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Traffic may be impacted in north lane of Second Avenue, from Fourth Street to Sherbourne Street.

CIMA Canada Inc., an engineering consultant, has been engaged to carry out a traffic calming study and to develop a traffic calming policy for the Town of Orangeville. Developing a policy and implementing traffic calming measures resulted from concerns raised by residents about speeding and traffic safety. Public notice - emergency water shutdown

There will be an emergency water shutdown from Tuesday, August 24 at 8 p.m. to Wednesday, August 25 at 6 a.m. at 60-82 First Street and 53-75 First Street (both sides of First Street). See map of approximate area affected. When the water comes back on residents and businesses will experience air in the water lines and possibly some sediment. Please run cold water and it will clear up.

The Town of Orangeville has lowered municipal flags today to honour former premier Bill Davis. Flags will return to full mast on Wednesday morning. Premier Bill Davis served Brampton and Peel Region for 26 years as a Member of Provincial Parliament. A former education minister, he earned the moniker Ontario’s “education minister” due to his commitment to and impact on the education system. He died August 8, 2021 at the age of 92.
