Canada Post labour strike and municipal operations: What you need to know

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) strike continued as of the end of the day on November 19, impacting mail services.

If you typically rely on mail for payments, here’s what you can do:

For property taxes:

Orangeville Transit Blue Route resumes Townline at Broadway service

Great news Orangeville Transit riders!

Construction has wrapped up on Townline and the road has re-opened.

This means the Blue route will resume regular operation.

As of 2 p.m. today, the Blue route will return to making its right-hand turn at the base of Broadway, onto Townline.

Townline culvert work - Lane impacts, closures, and transit detours

Our private sector contractors start work next week on Townline from Broadway to 365 metres south (the Water Pollution Control Plant). Along with intersection improvements at Townline and Broadway, work on Townline includes:

• Overflow culvert replacement
• Resurfacing the impacted area
• Partial curb and sidewalk replacements

Temporary Transit Disruption - Blue Route

There is a minor disruption on the Blue Route due to construction on Dawson Road and the Dawson/Broadway intersection. The detour will remain in place for the duration of the roadwork and is effective October 10, 2024.

• Last stop before detour: Transit Hub
• Route Reconnection: Broadway at Centre Street
• First stop following detour: Broadway and Bythia Street (Stop 17)

Stop 78 (FreshCo) and Stop B3 (Broadway and Centre Street) will not be serviced during this time.

Shelter work coming to two Orangeville Transit stops September 20

A heads up for Orangeville Transit riders:

Work will be done tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 20) on two shelters.

• Tony Rose Memorial Sports Centre (stop 28) – shelter repairs
• Headwaters Health Care Centre (stop 34) - shelter installation

There will be no disruptions to transit and regular stops will continue at these stops.

• Local businesses, transit, and commercial access will be maintained through a single lane.
