Transit system information now available on Google Maps

The Town of Orangeville has collaborated with Google to provide public transit information. The Town wants to improve your transit experience by providing one more way of accessing transit information online, via desktop computer or mobile device. Using the “directions” feature in Google Maps, transit users can access bus stops, transit routes and schedules, and trip duration. This conveniently allows users to plan their in-town trip.

The General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) is a common format for public transportation schedules and associated geographic information. The Town of Orangeville’s new Geographical Information System (GIS) has worked with the Google Transit Team to get Orangeville Transit information into this GTFS format. Orangeville now regularly provides its GTFS transit data to Google which is integrated directly into Google Maps for the purpose of providing public transit direction options.

Printed copies of the transit schedule and routes are available at the Orangeville Mall lottery kiosk, the recreation centres, the libraries, and the Town Hall.
