1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:15 p.m. by Chair Kidd.

2. Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest
None was stated by the Committee members.

3. Approval of Agenda
The agenda was presented and approved.

That, the agenda for Thursday, December 1, 2016 be approved as presented.

4. Approval of Previous Minutes
The minutes of Thursday, October 6, 2016 and Thursday, November 3, 2016 were presented and approved.

5. Business Arising
5.1 Bravery Park

The committee was updated on the informal meeting with residence within the Alder Street Parklands and the proposal of using the Alder Parklands as a possible location for Bravery Park. The residence agreed to a neighbourhood planning forum to discuss further the possibility of the Alder Parklands as a proposed Bravery Park location. The Recreation Committee was invited to attend the forum on Thursday, December 15th at the Alder Recreation Centre.

5.2 Flagpole
The Director of Parks & Recreation gave an update on the status of the Flagpole to date. The concrete base, which is approximately 6 ft. round x 8 ft. deep, is in. Within a few days the pole will be erected once the concrete has time to settle. The pole is 80 ft. high and the flag is approximately 15 ft. x 25 ft. in size. The flag will be put up early in the New Year.
6. New Business
6.1 Committee Suggestions for 2017
The committee was requested to give input and suggests moving forward into 2017 and this topic will be revisited in January.

7. Updates
7.1 First Night Events

The committee received a copy of the New Year’s Eve free swim and skates flyer and where updated on the planned events for the day.

7.2 Parks & Recreation Capital Projects 2017
The 2017 capital budget has now been approved by council and Ray Osmond, the Director advised the committee of the capital item projects for the Parks and Recreation department as well as the facility capital projects the department will be overseeing in 2017.

The next meeting is 5:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2016.
