New installations added to mural collection at Alder Recreation Centre

Six new pieces of locally created artwork have been installed along the walking track at Alder Recreation Centre. The installations complete a collection of 10 murals that help to brighten the space along the track while contributing to the Town of Orangeville’s growing public art collection.

100 per cent of active Town staff complied with COVID-19 vaccination policy, four volunteer firefighters fail to comply

Today, the Town of Orangeville provided an update on its COVID-19 vaccination policy. One hundred percent of currently active staff are in compliance with the policy; the Town has terminated four volunteer firefighters for non-compliance.

Province eases public health measures starting January 31

The Ontario government has announced an easing of restrictions imposed on January 5 in response to the spread of the Omicron variant. The reduction in restrictions will occur in three phases with 21 days between each step. As of January 31, social gathering limits will be increased to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors. Just over five acres of land in downtown Brampton has been sold to the city by the Orangeville Railway Development Corporation (ORDC). The deal, following months of discussions, will see the site off Nelson Street, change ownership at a cost of $24.25 million. The rapid spread of the Omicron variant and increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations will see the province introduce a Modified Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen on January 5, 2022. The last train rolled down the track from Orangeville to Brampton on December 17, 2021, marking the end of a long rail line history for the area.
